[easy] going

Time for a quick post about a gorgeous little sweetheart with her mom and dad...

I did this session a couple of weeks before Christmas, but I regret to admit that I have yet to deliver any photos to the client. Eeeek! Between being sick and snowed in I've had trouble keeping on top of (and/or delivering) my work. Thankfully they're a very easy-going couple, which, come to think of it, was exactly how the shoot was too. Very easy-going. I swear I spent more time chit-chatting with mom and dad about photography and parenting than actually taking photos. Luckily, as you'll see below, their sweet little girl was an extremely easy subject to capture so I didn't have to work too hard to get some great shots. Gorgeous!

Thanks for a fun session Sami and Mark. I loved spending time with you and really appreciate your understanding about my slow turnaround of your photos!

Thank you to all of my wonderful friends and family for their support this year as I started my new photography business. I have enjoyed meeting many amazing families and look forward to meeting many more in 2009. I'm busy getting ready for Christmas so I haven't had time to get much work done. Not that I'm complaining! My clients who are still waiting for their photos have been very understanding, so I appreciate their patience at this busy time of year.

As I sit here and watch mountains of snow fall, I'll leave you with some photos from a recent family shoot I did.

What a terrific bunch of people. I just loved their home and their style and their easy-going personalities. And what a bunch of modelling pros... I had several great shots of the whole family in the first five minutes... they were that good!

I think this session has finally put to rest my fear of being stuck taking photos indoors with very little natural light on another gray Vancouver day. On this morning, the weather forced us inside but I still had a great time with this terrific family in their lovely home. They were fun and kind and extremely loving towards each other, which I always enjoy seeing. I feel privileged to meet such wonderful people each week when I take photos.

Other than the two beautiful kids (with gorgeous eyes) the best part of the session was probably being invited to join in on lunch time to enjoy a super-deluxe tuna sandwich. The secret ingredients? Lots of mustard and relish! Who knew?

Thanks for the wonderful session Alisha and Mat. Not only were you so warm and welcoming to me, but the tuna sandwich was dee-lish!

[snow] day

My friend Buzz has asked me to photograph his wedding next summer. This is very exciting (and a little scary) for me because I've never photographed a wedding before. I'm incredibly lucky though because Buzz and his fiancée*, Jen, are totally laid back and trust that I'll really put my heart into their photos and make sure the story of their marriage celebration is told beautifully through my photography. I can't wait to have fun with them on their big day. It's sure to be a terrific family celebration, which is perfect really because families are right up my photographic alley so-to-speak.

When Buzz first asked me to shoot his wedding, we thought it might be a good idea to do a practice shoot just to see how well we all got along with a camera between us.

For this, we decided on a family Christmas portrait and drove up one of the local mountains in search of some snow to help with the Christmas vibe. To our surprise, we actually found some of the cold white wonderfulness. I was particularly shocked by the snow and had arrived incredibly unprepared in running sneakers instead of snow boots. How embarrassing. We all got quite cold quite quickly (especially their adorable son, Z) but still managed to squeak in a bunch of fun shots before everybody turned into a popsicle!

Needless to say, the wedding next summer will not require snow gear so we should be in good shape for more great photos.

I'm way behind on posting my latest shoots, so this will be a quick one. All I'm going to say is... aren't there a bunch of gorgeous babies and beautiful people in Vancouver? There must be something in the water. (Or at least in all the rain!) Just check out these photos for your proof.

This gorgeous doll below is the couple's first born baby and it shows... they could not stop smiling at her for the entire shoot. And who could blame them?! Thanks for letting me capture the memories Robyn and Andrew!
